Abstract

The Vedic literature of ancient India is a group of religious texts that are thought to have been established sequentially from the 15th to the 5th century BCE. However, the exact time, region, and author of each text are all unknown. In this presentation, we will introduce a visualization system that we have developed in order to explore the relationship between the texts based on the co-occurrence of ritual formulas (mantras) in the texts. From the graphs, we will be able to read the relationships between the texts and their changes, and from this we will develop a discussion of the background of the formation of the Vedic literature.
